The Trojan War did not take place on the plain of the nearby River Mendere.
My study of Homer's epic poem 'The Iliad' effectively proves that neither the walled fortress at Hisarlik, nor the plain below, can possibly have been the setting for the Trojan War as described in the Iliad.
